Communiqué de la direction de Sciences Po, 21 mars 2020
| Chères et Chers collègues, Chères étudiantes, Chers étudiants, Roland Marchal, notre collègue et ami, chercheur CNRS au Centre de recherches internationales de Sciences Po, emprisonné en Iran depuis le mois de juin 2019, a été libéré hier et doit arriver aujourd’hui à Paris, où il va retrouver sa famille.Sa libération a été annoncée par la présidence de la République et le ministère de l’Europe et des Affaires étrangères. C’est pour nous tous une joie immense et un très grand soulagement.Depuis des mois, vous avez été nombreux à protester contre l’incarcération sans motif de deux de nos chercheurs, Fariba Adelkhah et Roland Marchal, à vous élever contre cette atteinte intolérable aux libertés académiques, à leur manifester votre soutien inébranlable.La libération de Roland Marchal vient récompenser les efforts incessants et admirables du comité de soutien à Fariba et Roland et de tous ceux qui, à Sciences Po et ailleurs, n’ont eu de cesse de lutter contre leur emprisonnement. Notre profonde gratitude va aussi au ministère de l’Europe et des Affaires étrangères ainsi qu’à l’ensemble des autorités publiques françaises qui ont tout mis en œuvre pour obtenir la libération de nos deux amis.Aujourd’hui Roland Marchal est libre mais Fariba Adelkhah est toujours incarcérée.Comme vous le savez, son état de santé, affaibli par plusieurs semaines de grève de la faim, est toujours très préoccupant. Pour des raisons humanitaires urgentes et impératives, il faut que soit mis un terme à son emprisonnement.Nous n’aurons de cesse de réclamer la libération de Fariba Adelkhah et ne pourrons nous réjouir pleinement que lorsque nos deux amis seront à nouveau, tous les deux, parmi nous. | Dear colleagues and students, Our colleague and friend Roland Marchal, a CNRS researcher at the at the Sciences Po Centre for International Studies and Research who has been imprisoned in Iran since June 2019, was released yesterday and is due to arrive in Paris today, where he will be reunited with his family. His release has been announced by the office of the President of the Republic and the Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs.This is a cause for immense joy and a great relief to us all.For months now many of you have been protesting against the unjustified imprisonment of two of our researchers, Fariba Adelkhah and Roland Marchal. You have spoken out against this intolerable attack on academic freedom and expressed your unwavering support for them.Roland’s release rewards the admirable and unceasing efforts of the support committee for Fariba and Roland, and of all those at Sciences Po and elsewhere who have persevered in the fight against their imprisonment. Our deep gratitude also goes to the Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs and to the French public authorities who have done everything possible to secure the release of our two friends.Today Roland Marchal is free, but Fariba Adelkhah is still incarcerated. Several weeks of hunger strike have weakened her state of health, which remains very worrying. For urgent and compelling humanitarian reasons, her imprisonment must end.We will not stop calling for the release of Fariba Adelkhah and will only be able to celebrate fully when both of our friends are with us again.
